About this model

Launched2012

The D5200 (2012) is the Nikon DSLR that brought a 24.1-megapixel DX sensor to the D5000 line: the EXPEED 3 processor, a 39-point autofocus system, 5 frames per second, a 3-inch side-hinged vari-angle screen, 1080p video, a built-in flash, a single SD slot and the EN-EL14 battery. The body has no focus motor of its own, so only AF-S and AF-P lenses autofocus on it. The D5200s we buy mostly come from first-time DSLR owners who kept the kit zoom on the camera for years.

What moves the resale value of a Nikon D5200

Grade a D5200 on the grip rubber, the mode dial, the screen hinge, the card door and the lens mount ring, then fire the pop-up flash and check that the screen folds out and turns without a loose feel. In this price band the battery keeps the largest share of the original-item amounts, then the charger, then the bill and the box; the bag keeps the least. Age is asked in five bands counted from the bill date, and a 2012 body always falls in the last band, which is a single fixed step.

Lenses usually sold with the Nikon D5200

No lens rows are attached to this page yet. If you are selling the D5200 with the AF-S 18-55mm VR kit zoom, the 55-200mm VR, the 35mm f/1.8G or any other F-mount lens, tick My lens is not listed, type the lens name, and the team prices it on the call from the same rows used on the other Nikon DX pages. A spare EN-EL14, a remote or a memory card is not a priced row.

How the quote works for this model

Pick the grade, type any lens you are handing over, tick the original items you still have, choose the age band and verify your mobile number. The quote shows the body line and the total; the representative checks the sensor, the mount, the autofocus with an AF-S lens and the vari-angle screen at pickup and pays that amount when the camera matches your answers.

Bodies are priced on their own; every listed lens you tick is added from its own price row. Four grades (Flawless, Good, Average, Below Average), five original items (box, bill, charger, battery, bag) and five age bands, from under four months to more than two years, set the number. Read the guide before you answer.

Questions sellers ask about the Nikon D5200

My D5200 will not autofocus with an old Nikon AF lens. Is that a fault?

No. The D5200 has no focus motor in the body, so older AF and AF-D lenses focus manually on it; AF-S and AF-P lenses autofocus. The representative tests autofocus with an AF-S lens at pickup, so this does not change the grade.

Is this the D5200 page or the D5300 page?

This row is the D5200 from 2012. The D5300 from 2013 added Wi-Fi and GPS and has its own row on this site. The model name is printed on the front of the body under the Nikon logo, so read it before you choose the page.
